ZETA’s Strados Modern violin marries the best of ergonomic solid-body (chambered) violin design and high-tech pickup systems with the feel of traditional violin to create an instrument specifically designed to meet the needs of the professional musician.
The ZETA Modern body design features simplified yet elegant contemporary lines. Two graceful sweeping concave curves create a smooth instrument waistline while maintaining balance and function. The Modern violin and viola body is a semi-hollow construction of lightweight basswood or mahogany. The extreme waist cutaways and a highly sculpted back relief contribute further to the overall lightweight design. With the key reference dimensions of a traditional acoustic violin, the Modern violin body style maintains the familiar violin positional cues.
ZETA’s patented ‘Strados Bridge Pickup’ delivers a clean, warm electric violin tone that is favored by many artists world-wide. At ZETA, we make the bridge housings and cast the bridge fingers. By controlling the manufacture of each component, we guarantee consistency in both look and sound. And the ZETA ‘Strados Modern’ sound . . . it is both acoustic and edgy, with a broad range of dynamics thrown in. One could say . . . dynamically electrifying . . . but acoustically grounded.

The Modern violins and violas feature a detailed fiddle edge along the top and bottom edges of the upper and lower bouts, providing further referencing for experienced players, and additional mounting options for shoulder rests. Other features include; ‘ZETA’ ebony chinrest and ebony tailpiece, made by us; onboard volume control; 1/4″ output jack; and a multi-pin MIDI output jack. ZETA’s proprietary active internal preamp system increases the power of the pickup signal. This state-of-the-art system delivers a wide range of amplification flexibility, supporting a variety of tonal characteristics adaptable to diverse playing techniques and styles of music. An internal 9-volt battery provides over 1,000 hours of service on average. Individual string digital outputs allow the use of each string as a separate MIDI channel and seperate individual internal gain controls provide string level balancing for analog users.
